Pleurotus geesteranus looks similar to other pleurotus or oyster mushrooms, growing in a fan-like shape. It has white stems and a blue grey cap. It has been shown to have higher yields than pleurotus ostreatus which is at present one of the most commonly cultivated strains. It can be grown using a different mixtures of sawdust, cottonseed hull, wheat skin and other composted materials.
