Pleurotus cornucopiae, also known as the branched oyster mushroom, is found throughout Europe, U.S. and Mexico. As with most oyster mushrooms, the popcorn oyster is incredibly nutrient dense, containing many vitamins and minerals. It has also shown potential medicinal benefits as well as the possibility to be used in mycoremediation of the environment.

The popcorn oyster is very similar to other oyster mushroom as it grows in a fan like shape. It has a pale yellow to brown to grey cap with white stems. With a mild seafood taste and a meaty texture, it can be sauteed in butter, added to stir fries or in soups. To grow, a sawdust substrate can be used and fruiting temperature is between 65 and 85 degrees fahrenheit.
