OutGrow® is happy to offer an affordable alternative to making spawn. We only use organic whole corn to make this mushroom substrate. This is a 3 pound bag (approximately 3 quarts) of hydrated and sterilized organic whole corn. This bag has a self healing injection port and a filter patch for gas exchange. Simply inoculate with 4 to 6cc of your favorite gourmet mushroom culture. Allow the bag to sit untouched in normal room temps for 2 weeks after inoculation before you will see the beginnings of growth. Whole corn will colonize amazingly fast compared to other grains. Once the bag has reached 50% colonization you can mix the bag once to spread around your mycelium. This can speed up the colonization process. From start to finish your whole corn mushroom substrate will take around 4-5 weeks from the time of inoculation. Each bag will make enough spawn to inoculate up 15lbs of bulk substrate.
